261 Club Connecticut
We meet in Wethersfield, Connecticut either at Wethersfield High School or in Old Wethersfield on Sunday mornings at 9:00 a.m. The place is always posted on the FB page during the week.
The mission of 261 Fearless Club Connecticut is to bring women together through a supportive network-independent of social, religious or geographical background to share strength and become empowered through running.
The number 261 is Kathrine Switzer's bib number from the 1967 Boston Marathon. She protected that bib while an angry race director attacked her in the second mile and tried to rip the numbers off her shirt. He was infuriated that a woman had entered his race, declaring that it was a men's only event.
261 Fearless is a global community of women who have found strength, power and fearlessness from putting one foot in front of the other. This strength has allowed each woman to overcome doubt and adversity in her life and she has the ability and desire to give support to other women who want to take on their personal challenges through running.
